When was the last time you walked into an intimate dinner club, stopped by a piano bar, or danced in the aisles of a big band performance where the "girl singer" performed tunes that made you wonder "What ever happened to this kind of music and when can I hear it again?"
The music Kathryn Taubert sings appeals to anyone who ever identified with lyrics that told a story, evoked a memory, brought a laugh or a tear to your eye, or made you want to dance.
With a repertoire of 300 tunes from Gershwin to Jobim, Manilow to Mercer, Benson to Basie, Kathryn performs songs in which the melodies are timeless and lyrics say it all.
Kathryn has performed regularly in a variety of venues, and is most well known for her smooth interpretations of old favorites, as well as complex rhythms and multi-lingual Latin jazz favorites. Working with a cadre of some of the finest jazz/blues musicians in Florida,
Kathryn's performances always generate interest.
"Having fans identify with a song I sing is a wonderful compliment," she says. "For every feeling there is a lyric, and for every experience, a song. I enjoy finding those tunes that speak to fans on a personal level, and am honored when they ask me to sing 'their song.' "
Singing in four languages (English, Spanish, Portuguese, & French), Kathryn's style lends itself to casual or formal dinner clubs, intimate piano bars, big band ballrooms, or swinging "Jam Sessions" where patrons and musicians alike gather for an evening of fun, dining, dancing, or merely listening. Kathryn believes that patrons should have a choice: "I want my fans to be able to carry on a conversation with their companions if they wish, without being overwhelmed by too-loud music," she says. "When I go into a restaurant or club, I want choices too. Really good music doesn't have to be loud to be heard."
BOOKINGS:
Currently living and working in Southwest Florida, Kathryn will work with either your keyboard professional (some conditions apply), or bring her own accompaniment from among the talented musicians with whom she regularly works. Available for limited travel, schedule permitting, Kathryn will, with sufficient advance notice, bring along additional musicians at your request, from among the talented cadre of those with whom she works.
