Kathryn Taubert

Written in 1938, this tune, has been a favorite of Artists for decades. Its evolution in 1950's however, took it away from its roots. The English language version has a very different lyric than the original Portuguese, and the instrumentation is somewhat "watered down."

The version on my CD: "Somewhere in Time" is very close to Barroso's, with influences by the well-known Brazilian vocalist, Gal Costa. The "verse" in Barroso's version is repeated, as it is here. This wonderful song is rich in Brazil's cultural history in the literal translation. I have used both the original lyric in Portuguese and the English language version in the second chorus.
