This great swing tune features a chorus with Rick Howard on guitar and me scatting in unison. Ella Fitzgerald was famous for using her voice like an instrument, and while I don't presume to place myself in Ella's extraordinary category, recording this version gave me a chance to acknowledge her contributions to jazz in the best way I know how: through music. If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, I hope that my version of what she taught us to do will, in some small way, show our appreciation for all she was, and still is to all musicians. The third chorus of this tune features my original "scat lyrics" as well as Rick and Stu's fabulous instrumentation. Our friend Doc Barbakow suggested this tune for my CD: "Somewhere In Time."
